These cover the site and the directory. Membership has its own terms, because membership involves money and a selection process.

This policy describes how Hackhouse actually intends to operate, but it has not been reviewed by a lawyer and should not be relied on as a final legal document. It will be before we take payment or run the first cohort.

Using the site

You may read, search, and link to anything here. Do not scrape the directory in bulk, attempt to break authentication, or use the site to send unsolicited commercial mail to people listed in it.

The directory is editorial, and imperfect

Listings are compiled and maintained by us. We aim for accuracy and we correct errors when told about them, but we do not warrant that any listing is current, complete, or correct. Inclusion is not an endorsement, and exclusion is not a judgement.

The directory links to third-party sites. What happens on those sites is between you and them.

If a listing concerns you

Company and fund listings largely reproduce business information published elsewhere. If a listing is wrong, out of date, or you would rather not appear, email chris@hackhouse.xyz and we will correct or remove it. We do not charge for this and we do not require a reason.

The application demo submits nothing

The localhost builder application is an interaction prototype. It stores answers only in the current browser tab and sends no network request. Completing it is not an application, waitlist entry, purchase, reservation, or contract.

Retreats are proposed until confirmed

Dates, properties, cohort sizes, programme details, sponsorship, and prices described anywhere on this site are proposals until confirmed in a signed agreement. A candidate link or interest action is not a booking and creates no obligation on either side.

No liability for the obvious

The site is provided as it is. To the extent Canadian law allows, we are not liable for losses arising from your use of the site or reliance on anything in the directory. This does not limit liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

Our stuff

The Hackhouse name, the maple monogram, and the design of this site belong to us. The underlying facts in the directory do not.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Canada and the province in which Hackhouse is established, and disputes go to the courts there.

Changes

We may update these terms. The date at the top reflects the current version, and continuing to use the site after a change means you accept it.
